The season opener for Kentucky basketball is finally here as they travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to take on the Duke Blue Devils in the State Farm Champions Classic. Kentucky has competed in this event seven times and has a 4-3 record.
Duke comes into the season ranked fourth in the country led by star freshman Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett, and Cam Reddish who were the top three recruits in the 2018 class. The Blue Devils have some experience in junior Marques Bolden who will be in a major role.
Kentucky comes in ranked second in the country. The Wildcats have a mix of experience and youth this year. The Cats brought back PJ Washington, Quade Green, and Nick Richards while adding grad-transfer Reid Travis to the roster this past summer. The Cats added stars like Keldon Johnson, Ashton Hagans, and Tyler Herro to the roster from the 2018 class.
This is one of the most anticipated matchups between the two teams and will be high scoring. I believe Kentucky will outlast Duke with their depth and will take the game by five or six points. Should be a fun game.
