Kentucky basketball: who starts?

Big Blue Madness and the Blue/White game have passed and the 2018-19 Kentucky basketball season is about to get underway.  Kentucky is very deep this year and a lot of guys could start on this team.

When asked earlier today about who stands out, John Calipari specifically mentioned PJ Washington and Reid Travis.  These two will be the main guys down low this year for the cats.

With those two being named, who are the other three? I said a few days ago that I thought it would be Quade Green, Tyler Herro, and Keldon Johnson.  It’s looking more like two of those three will be starting with the other one being close behind.

Immanuel Quickley will probably get the nod at point guard with the shooting guard spot being a toss-up between Quade Green and Tyler Herro.  If I have those two to choose between I am going with Quade.  That’s a good position for him and having some experience in the backcourt is huge.

This team is crazy deep and I think any lineup will be lethal.  If I was putting money on it I would say the starting five would look something like this:

  1. Immanuel Quickley
  2. Quade Green
  3. Keldon Johnson
  4. PJ Washington
  5. Reid Travis

I believe who finishes the game is more important and the answer to that will come probably after the Duke game.

With the lineup above, you have Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery, Tyler Herro, Ashton Hagans, and Jemarl Baker.

Can we go ahead and hang the banner?

Go cats.
